In this section, you’ll find information about all the different pieces for setting up a compost system, from regulations to feedstock sourcing to understanding different system choices and deciding which is best for your farm. We also discuss how to determine what feedstocks to accept, define what “community-oriented composting” means to you, and share communication and outreach strategies for establishing a successful system.

Hooray! You’ve chosen your system, engaged with your community, and got your system up and running. As you learn, developing and maintaining a log system to track your materials, recipe, and management activities is helpful. It’s very common to need a little troubleshooting as you build your experience and understanding of the composting process.
